About Luis Arce

Specializing in rugs for
over 35 Years

Luis Arce has been dealing in distinctive rugs for over 35 years, and is recognized internationally by collectors and designers as one of the country’s foremost experts in antique rugs, carpets and tribal weavings.  Specializing in fine pieces from Iran, Pakistan and India he has created a personal collection with pieces from all over the world, including both traditional and modern designs.

Luis developed his fine palette for Persian rugs while working for the legendary Abolghassan Parvizian for over 25 years.  Learning from a pillar in the industry has set a high bar for every piece that crosses his path.  He accredits his time with Mr. Parvizian to his success and knowledge in the industry.  Passionate about carpets, Luis’s eye for masterpieces has placed him in some of the finest estates and allowed him to collaborate with the most talented interior designers in Texas and the country.

Additionally, Luis developed a passion for fine art and antiques while working at Morton Auctioneers & Appraisers under the direction of Mrs. Tricia Kuehnert and the ownership of Mr. Luis Lopez Morton.  Here, he had the opportunity to expand his appreciation for fine art and antiques, developing the ability to recognize pieces from different influences and regions of the world.

“The greatest rugs in the world are like fine art” says Arce.  “They have superb quality, designs and color combinations.  The mid to late 19th Century was the heyday of rugs from Persia, India and Turkey.  Today, we find great new pieces with excellent workmanship, design and color combinations.”

“In addition to the elite clientele which I have had the privilege of serving through the years, there are a number of young professionals who look for fine        quality rugs” Luis says.  “There is a great interest in finding one-of-a-kind, rare and well-made hand knotted rugs.  Equally important, when you purchase a rug from me, I want you to feel confident that the rug you buy from my collection is right for you, and that its aesthetic merits and condition will continue to bring you pleasure over the years.”

Originally from El Salvador, he made Houston his home in 1983.  A family man, Luis enjoys spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.  In addition to his love for handmade rugs, he takes pleasure in fine arts, antiques and music.
